I’ve also heard this. My own personal experience putting 105K on a 98 TDI Jetta, I haven’t had fuel pump issues with diesel fuel without adding any additives. That said, I think it would be a good proactive measure to use an additive & I’ve been looking at getting some and start using it with each tank fill up.

Issue easily solved by running a good additive with every fill up

I guess it’s true. I had to replace the injection pump at only 375,000 miles on my ‘01 Golf TDI. They just don’t build them like they used to, eh?

Los Angeles, one week ago, on my way to work.

This was going to be my vote. I woke up the other morning and the TV was on it. I had never even heard of it, but they put on a great race.

More people need to watch BTCC.

Generally in Indiana it is more in the winter, but equal to regular unleaded or less than in the summer months.

Diesel is typically anywhere from equal to a dollar more expensive than regular petrol in Washington state. It seems to fluctuate a lot but it’s rarely cheaper.

Flyover states? I don’t remember the last time it was cheaper in Austin. Is Texas just a flyover state now?

I can report that diesel remains more expensive than regular in Massachusetts. Still not quite there.

Could also be that back when this was made VW still made some decent stuff versus now where they'll fall apart in a few years . If I ever had a desire to buy a VW it would probably be from this era.

More like, when was this taken? Clearly those prices aren’t reflective of what they are now. And I live in PA which has crazy gas taxes.

There’s an irrational desire for these cars that drives the market prices up. I love me some compression ignition...have had one sort or another in the family for 20+ years. But $7500 for this car is silly.

New York is substantially higher on diesel.

Diesel has been more than regular unleaded for years in Michigan.

Not in Florida either

Where is this?

Nor in the south.

Not around Philly it hasn’t. Diesel is still priced up near premium and regular is around $2.80

Used cars of this flavor (diesel, wagon, manual) often are. Well, perhaps not this high, but sometimes higher than the casual observer might expect. The B4 TDI is a fun little -err mid-level car, but at that age, that price is a little too steep in my estimation.

Things have changed a bit since it was manufactured.
