Thankfully, they also added a proper red by ‘79, which mine had - along with a back seat.
Can anyone confirm the “Chevette Scooter no back seat thing?” My ‘79 3-door hatch Chevette Scooter was thoroughly stripped - but it had a back seat. No A/C. No radio at all: Just a plastic cover plate, to remind you how much money you saved. All interior panels (doors, etc.) were flat fiberboard with a black vinyl…
I had a ‘79 Chevette. I got it free-for-the-hauling, partly assembled. The experience of getting it back on the road taught me many useful lessons. The first was: Don’t be afraid to just dive in and work on it!
There’s probably a serious problem awaiting the new owner.
I rented one of these in St. Thomas many years ago. They were so easy to steal that it been modified to include a welded-on bracket that allowed the manual gear shift to be padlocked into reverse, along with a stern rental-agreement admonition that the stout padlock was to be used each and every single time it was…
Hmmm... Ad claims “custom trailer hitch”, but no sign of it in the pictures. One of those stealth hitches?
The pics in the older ad - that claims it needs $20K+ in repairs - also show good panel gaps (actually, the older ad shows almost no damage at all), so I’m guessing what we’re worried about occurred underneath. Did it hang up on a curb or hit something big on the underside? We just don’t know...
Except I see similar engines and transmissions on eBay (I know: eBay isn’t always an accurate view of the parts market) for perhaps a bit over half of what they’re asking for this car. If this car came with lots of comforting documentation of exactly what happened - and how it was repaired - this car might have a much…
There’s a similar engine sitting on eBay right now for $6450 (but has fewer miles than this car; not that eBay is always a reliable indicator of the parts market), so the engine is worth something - but not likely half the asking price.
I know what you mean: Some salvage titles are issues for reasons that don’t make sense.
No Fox body love?
I lived with an... unreliable starter for a period of time. I learned a number of tricks like always parking so that I have a gentle downhill incline available without pushing.
Of course, the Russians might claim their Tu-95 has that honor.
I'd like to see more luxury SUV's with horse trailers behind them!
I doubt many ML63 AMG's have hitches - but they can be added:
I see that cover, too - but it also appears that there's a black hitch receiver install on this ML63. Mind you, it isn't often I see a luxury SUV really towing anything.
My problem with most luxury SUV-ish vehicles: They aren't used for what the design was originally intended (my definition includes at least off-road use and towing).
The price is a bit high - but I have some good Brat memories, and I always smile when I see one on the road (which isn't often these days).
That's the rattiest looking canopy I've seen anyone jump with (even before the obvious failures). Did they specifically use this - as part of a demo of recovery techniques? There must be more to the story here...
