I have an outback from JUST before they put in all of that Eyesight stuff.  Besides having a much lower cost of windshield replacement, I’m growing ever more thankful that I don’t have to wrestle my car for control and decision-making while on the road.

For clarity: Laser or bust.  I’m done with ink cartridges - my print needs are infrequent and I have no patience for dried-up cartridges.

Question: Is there a list of companies / printers that are confirmed NOT to do this kind of stuff? I have a Dell (rebranded Xerox, i think) color laser that’s long in the tooth and in need of update (Chromebooks / phones can’t print to it anymore after CloudPrint shut down).

Somebody in my neighborhood has a whole fleet of blacked out white cars - he’s going for the Stormtrooper B/W aesthetic and - for what it is - it looks great. His cars really scream “Stormtrooper”.

What’s surprising to me is how WELL Ford did with the Bronco and how POORLY Chevy did on the updated Blazer:

Now they just need to put it into production. They teased us all with the IDx years ago (another solid retro design) and let it die.

Yeah, this really seems like a problem of “Well, it’s 500+ variants of the data... which all can be generated programatically in a few seconds at will by a couple dozen lines of code because that’s what software is made to do.”

I have the same kind of issue with making that switch: for commuting, an EV motorcycle would be PERFECT - plenty of range to get me to and from work for a few days before I have to recharge, super easy in traffic, no heat to deal with...; but for having fun the ratio between “fun time” and “refeuling time” kills it - i

I don’t quite understand why this is a surprise to anyone. This is the very early days of a very powerful technology and there is a LOT that is not yet known / settled about how generative AI works in The Real World (read: at companies that worry about things like IP, copyright, etc).

I was house-shopping a couple years back and found a new-build neighborhood advertising a model that met my needs “Starting at $XXX,000”.

A tipped employee will take home AT MINIMUM the federal/state minimum wage. The employer must guarantee pay to that level if the tipped employee’s tips do not cover the difference between the “tipped minimum wage” and the federal/state minimum wage.

Getting the reflector aligned was a little fiddly, but it’s stayed put for a year now.  I plugged the power supply in next to the garage door opener.

When I changed the factory radio in my Subaru for a shiny new deck with Android Auto, I tore out a bunch of interior trim to run a backup camera - i went with a fairly inexpensive one and (except for me not tightening the locknuts down very well) it’s been an AMAZING upgrade.   My minivan, however, is stupid and has

Star because I both completely agree with you on the trend and for the well-placed H2G2 reference.

This is a pretty fair question - I am “that guy” who will flash/honk/wave at the person who has clearly forgotten that they’re only running DRLs and are totally invisible from the rear.  I get a lot of opportunities, sadly.

Not usually a big fan of government mandates to add features to a car, but I could get behind one or both of:

We can also pretend that the exposed (and asymmetric) Phillips fasteners are robotic beauty marks or something.

This, this and then some.
