I have an FJR1300. 4 big, fat cylinders mean I’ve got torque enough to rarely ever get much over 3500 rpm.

I hear - I own a FJR1300 that is my commuter as often as weather / kids’ school schedules permit. I do not “need” a 1300cc, ~150hp, continent-devouring motorcycle for my 5 mile commute to work. ...but I sure like having it.

But I fucking love my loud, obnoxious Harley. [... It] turns heads everywhere I go.

Seems like you’re paying a good deal of dough for a CF belt buckle rated to 100lbs.

See, THAT guy I want to see brought up on charges of criminal negligence in the event of an accident: he knows well enough to protect himself but did not take responsibility for seeing that his passenger was equally protected.

Helmet on the bicycle, helmet on the motorcycle. A 6' fall to the pavement at ANY speed including dead-stop is still a terrible thing to do to your skull.

Generally true. However, my neighbor has a Samsung Gear S2 “Classic” that actually looks pretty darn “watchy”, especially with a slightly nicer band on it. Still too deep/thick for me (I have a Timex Weekender that’s just about right) but I wouldn’t object to this one.

...which is far too small and devoid of restrooms for its own good.

My first bought-it-myself car was a 2001 Saturn SW2. I remember coming into the dealership for an oil change or something and finding the Saturn Relay in the showroom. My two thoughts, in sequential order were “Good Lord, that is ugly” and “GM’s rebadging other vehicles and selling them as Saturns. Well, that’s the

I’m trying to figure out if this spam post is being intentionally ironic or not...

This is more or less known as “Daddy’s gym time” in our family. I get home, plunk down on my back and then spend some time doing bench presses, leg extensions, leg raises, butterflies, one-hand dumbbell presses with one or both of my kids trying to hang on.

It is my fervent hope that they will re-make the “Barry” episode and cast Patrick Warburton as Barry.

They have these built into little backpacks now. Not /quite/ as demeaning AND the kid can carry their own d**n waterbottle/crackers/stuffed animal around the museum.

Ah, Nextdoor.com. Yeah, like we really needed to bring the neighborhood busybodies out of the HOA meetings and onto the internet. The worst part of it all (besides the influx of momtrepreneurs pushing cheap jewelry and snake essential oils) is that you don’t even get the GOOD gossip because everybody can see your

Cost of gear isn’t a good metric, here. I ride a Yamaha sport-tour bike; I own NOTHING with the tuning forks logo on it, yet I sit there in traffic with about $1200 in gear (helmet, boots, gloves, jacket) at any given time.

Those were such FUN motorcycles, partly because they felt like the motorcycle equivalent of slamming a small-block Chevy engine into a Mini. At idle they’d jump and dance and you’re sitting on it thinking “what the... why would somebody do this?” and then the light turns green and you roll on the power and everything

So this looks to have about 10" of travel on it. That seems... like not enough to actually go from an ergonomically-correct seated position to an ergonomically-correct standing position.

LED lighting makes the job easier, but yeah, this is the equivalent capacity of a single 20A circuit on your electrical panel. You can run a fair bit of stuff on that, but you definitely need to do the math on what you plan to power with this thing.
