If mechanical parts can’t be sourced, there are always upgrades! I’d love to see one with an SR20DET and 5-speed to the back wheels. :)

When I first laid eyes on this graphic, I thought it was a way to install luggage on the running boards like you’d see on cars and trucks from the Depression. Short of Baja Bugs strapping jerry cans there, has anyone used that space (which is narrower than Depression-era cars, I know) for luggage?

I bought an old WWII Army B-4 bag simply because some old road test said the front luggage space in a Bug is about that size. And it is! I kept a change of clothes/overnight stuff in there for awhile, until a hard rain and everything got all mildewy.

Anyone else catch the number plate is a nod to the first one from 1948? HUE 166

‘83 Monte Carlo with a 229 V6. I was 19 and didn’t know any better. It was 15 years old at the time, and the odo probably should’ve rolled over by then, had it worked. Bought it off a farmer with lots of farm vehicles to pull in and out of the driveway, so the car was always parked on grass, or in the mud. First night

I’m still at work so I can’t watch the video, but is there a way you could list the mods done to this example? I’m not sure if the Mille Miglia Beetle’s specs are online, and this also has been one of my all-time dream cars and I would love to replicate it, as well. Maybe Type IV powered instead of the 356 unobtainium

Hey, I’ve had an idea- could we pipe the exhaust, like, just behind the back wheels? If like, you get really, really stuck in snow, you could idle there for a bit and the exhaust could melt the snow? Just 6-8 inches of melted away snow, enough to back up a touch and get a little more of a head start?

May have been mentioned already, and may not count as “in the last decade or so”, and it may not even meet the criteria, but a Viper?

Chevy, for no apparent reason, adds a hyphen to their crossover to make it the H-HR, and then enters it into Wimbledon.

Is it wrong I kind of like that, though? I had an ‘89 Cougar hand-me-down and I think it could’ve benefitted from something like this. I’m completely sincere, I think it could’ve worked really well!

Back when I was a kid (maybe 9, 10?), I had this idea for a steam engine... essentially the same layout as an IC engine, except it was upside down, and the pistons were superheated (how? I never figured that out. Um... the battery, maybe?). Water gets squirted into the cylinder like gasoline, it hits the top of the

What is this majestic thing?

Why does the torque go down around 3500rpm before climbing back up? These charts can often confuse me, but I don’t recall seeing a dip like that.

Forgive the silly question, I’m just curious... are those secret spaces in the redesigned ‘78(?) to ‘83(?) 280Z and ZX, as well, or just the first gen?

Whoa whoa WHOA. What is this long-cab M715? It’s so beautiful. What type of top is that? Did they weld a B-pillar in and a little bit of a Wagoneer behind the doors, or what? I don’t recall seeing this type of body style before.

Regarding Vanishing Point as number 5, I’m not sure if this was brought up yesterday, but I’m a fan of the film and I’ve never heard Chrysler “took back” the Challengers because they weren’t happy with the film. Especially taking them back before filming had ended. In fact, one of the Challengers (I believe they were

I have kind of an odd, not-very-related question, and I was hoping other Jalops may offer some sort of empathy or understanding or something.

I like this idea.

Also, I know the Bug got their “Diagnostic” computer system thing in the 70s, but by that time the “simple honest” car had already made a name for itself. :)

Forgive me if this has already been mentioned; I meant to respond to this yesterday but work got busy.
