Where I come from, men with degrees tend to marry women who are university grads (and vice versa). A degree is part of your "package" for marriage.

@NefariousCAT: Jacob started carrying 0 a few years ago, actually. 0, of course, fits like a 1/2 when that was the smallest size.

Why would a 16 year old girl be interested in a 14 year old boy in the first place? When I was 16, anyone under 16 was off limits because they were "too young."

Jon looks younger/more fresh in real life...actually, I think most of the cast looks younger as their 2010 selves.

In some cultures, "children" are expected to live at home until they marry. And these days, with the marriage age rising, you find many adults who're pushing 30 and still living at home. Actually, I know a couple who lived with the guy's parents for one year AFTER they married.

@Sodypop: Ann Taylor does this for their Facebook Page - they even list the heights of their "models."

Even though they're not professional models, they were likely taught to pose and "work" with the camera. A Canadian designer once featured "regular women" in her show and they were all trained to walk by a well-known "body diversity focused" model agent.

Christopher Plummer was my first ever celebrity crush. I was 4 years old and watched the movie like every day for a month.

@jayrrrrr: What about Chinese men who went abroad for school? I know plenty of guys who probably come from families who have just as much, if not more money than some of these expats.

@jayrrrrr: Really? My parents never said that, nor did my grandparents. In fact, they told me NOT to marry a white guy. They do say that western-raised men (which include Asian men) better understand modern gender roles, though. They told me that my ideal husband should be an upper middle class Chinese Canadian

@Girl_A: In the case of Japan, I think having a foreign boyfriend is kind of like having an accessory. You get to show off to your girl friends what you have. If a woman has a hot foreigner, it's like she got to jump the line at Hermes for that Birkin.

@bobella is owltastic!: But most posters here make it sound like it is a white male-only phenomenon.

@Narc780: Don't many of us go to the Carribean? I mean, that's how Stella got her groove back, right (wait, the REAL Stella married a gay man.......)

@T_Bee: Interesting. I thought people in Taiwan were more enlightened than that.

@sangmo: Not a western male thing, but a male thing, period. My great grandfather had three or four wives, at the same time (this was legal in 1930s Macau). I am willing to bet that the more wives (i.e. arm candy) a man had back then, the more insecure he was. Only insecure people have to you know, keep up with the

@Belladonna77: They might also be worried that the women would take off once they get to the US.

@clearsight: It's not just white men who are marrying these women. There are Asian men from wealthier Asian countries who are doing the same. These guys, like the European and North American men, are usually seen as "less worthy" by women in their own countries.

@accesskathryn: I don't know about Thai culture, but I don't think NOT marrying is an option at all. It's Thai men or foreign men.
