@laurascr: Clothing is one thing, but banning the use of "burger" for anyone other than McDonald's can be seen as questionable. At least they haven't forced the closure of other burger joints outside of the village.

My parents had a print of this when I was a kid, in the room where we kept the piano.

@Luckwouldhaveit: Well, at least they're not stopping other burger joints outside of the village from using "burger." I haven't heard of any BKs, Wendy's, etc... closing down for the duration of the Games.

They're being really strict about the licensing/naming thing. A chef at the First Nations pavilion can't call his bison sandwiches, burgers because McDonald's is a sponsor. Instead, he has to use "sliders" or "bannockwiches" even though McDonald's doesn't normally have exclusive use of the word "burger."

I was told by a magazine editor that model agents and fashion editors would *LOVE* to see different sized models. However, it's the designers that don't want to use them (and therefore not providing different-sized samples). I guess it's a (s)he said/(s)he said situation...

@Apollinarius: Many of today's actresses aren't that much thinner than those of yesteryear. The women back in the 1950s and 1960s are just...flabbier, so they "look" flatter. When Mad Men places casting calls, they specifically DON'T want people who're too toned.

@HappyHydrozoan is positive disintegration: Yeah...it's scary to know that I have the same measurements as a model 8-10 inches taller than me! It's not the actresses and singers (who are usually much shorter than models) who are causing people to feel badly about themselves, but models. Period.

Maybe more designers should emulate this Indian designer...the model in the poofy red and white dress is apparently only 5'1 or so. There is a post about this in Bella Petite magazine - Hey Jezebel: I've sent emails about this publication several times...no discussion yet?

@definitelynotjessica: Which is exactly why I asked why they were eating sh!t to begin with. They'd feel much better if they ate a piece of fruit or something if they were hungry.

I don't understand. If teenage girls are so obsessed with weight, why are they eating sh!t?

The bathing suit in number 13 is nasty, IMHO.

It astounds me that the C of E won't allow women to be bishops (but will ordain them to be priests). In Canada, the Anglican Church has had women bishops for nearly 20 years. The first (or at least, one of the first) women bishops is an Old Girl (alumna) of my high school!

@Etoiles: The parents of a girl I knew growing up recently had their 35th. There were pictures. Yes, powder blue. The dad. And his groomsmen.

Do I need to return my Chinese card if I say that I get headaches when there's too much red like that (e.g. family tables at more traditional Chinese wedding receptions)?

I learned how to type on a computer like that!

@pesematology: Interesting....extra curricular activities at my school was really segregated. Badminton and instrumental music were, for example, overwhelmingly Asian, hockey (both field and ice) were mostly white. Basketball, volleyball, cross-country running and choir were pretty mixed. This was over 10 years

@clevernamehere: Same with my great-grandmother, who had four kids between ~ 30 and 48. In 1909 China, when she had her first baby, 30 was ANCIENT for a first time mom. My grandmother was the third kid and my great-grandmother was approximately 44 at the time. My great-grandmother also had bound feet, smoked (half a

You know, I think writers/Hollywood people need to actually like, do some research as to what non-white people actually do. If they continue to think that non-whites are blue collar, working class then they're dead wrong. I went to a private, university preparatory school for part of middle school and all of high

Do black people's hair naturally "lighten" ever? I have typical Asian hair (i.e. black in colour), but after spending a year in Bermuda, my brown highlights (which is normally only visible in certain lights) started to really show. It turned black again after moving back to Canada, and to this day, I am not sure
