@clochette: So the Anglican church in the UK doesn't have any women bishops yet? I think the first one in Canada was elected in '94-ish (the woman was a graduate of my alma mater. She was up against a woman who went to a rival school (and happened to be head of my/HER alma mater at the time)

@RubyPenelope: I don't think Mulan was that bad. The original story was a poem. You can't turn that into a 90 minute movie. In terms of it being offensive, I think Hunchback of Notre Dame is even more so to French literature.

I think Mulan and Jasmine weren't considered "niche" because they were adapted from existing stories, while Tiana's story is only vaguely like the original Princess and the Frog story.

@heywhat: Then shouldn't they also be banning church steeples? Or are they not building Cathedral looking churches anymore?

@JLady: Second that! That way, I won't have to pay all that duty when I order online (oh, and bring petites back to stores as well as a bigger petite collection!)

@anteup: Depends on the brand. A lot of premium denim brands use 34" as their standard. Their petites are 31"

@clevernamehere: Since when did a 5'5" to 5'7" woman (especially a 5'5" woman) have a 34" inseam, unless she's wearing 4" heels?

Matthew Weiner says Margaret Sterling is 22. I thought she was 19?

@lijakaca: And she's technically a "standard" size designer. We're talking about designers who only focus on the 14+ market or in the under 5'4" market (e.g. Allison Izu)

@ytuhermanotambien: A lot of actresses and singers don't have model bodies either. They're skinny, but they're not 6 feet tall (I think actresses average around 5'4"-5'5" ish)

and the industry does nothing to help people who specifically focus on plus-size (or petite) clothing. These designers exist and their stuff can be pretty good. However, there's a lack of interest to promote these designers, which means that they have to do it themselves. And they don't have the $$$ to pay for

When I have kids, I'm going to make most of their meals from scratch (food is really important for weight control - I gain 2 lb every time I go to my future in-laws' place!!!). I'm probably going to limit the type of video games they play and encourage them to walk/play outside.

It's not just the women who are victims. The guys in these cases often are as well. Often, guys are "sent home" to marry...do you think many guys who grew up in Toronto, LA or London wants to marry a girl "from the old country"? However, media never (rarely?) talk about the men.

I want to see Sarah Palin's reaction when one of her kids brings home a granolaesque Chinese-Italian athiest Democrat who drives a German (or Japanese) car and happens to be a member of the same sex as said Palin kid.

@pointfivejew: Weird....wouldn't these people be pretty well-educated, well-read and well-travelled? Growing up, I thought I was the lone upper-middle class kid who didn't go away much (I had (and still have) a slight fear of flying).

Growing up, I had a My Child doll whose only resemblence to an Asian girl was the fact that she had really, really dark hair (darker than my brunette Cabbage Patch Kid). She had blue eyes, though. I don't think you could get an Asian doll in the 1980s - at least not one that didn't look "stereotypical" (you know,

Nicole is apparently taller than a girl who won a "regular" cycle (Eva). Kind of defeated the purpose of a "short" cycle, huh? Anyway, I think Tyra should have addressed more issues regarding non-standard heighted models and stuff they could have done. Maybe even feature a petite designer or two (if tall women

@slowpoke.r: Do you think the reason why young girls are encouraged to go into historically male-dominated jobs that are "powerful" is because they're white-collar and, with the exception of, say, healthcare, "pretty"? I mean, a lawyer usually wears a suit to the office, while a construction worker wears grubs and

Guys in co-ed dorms are often more "mature" than those in guys' only ones (question: would a co-ed building with sex-segregated wings or floors be considere single-sex or co-ed?) since a lot of guys have been conditioned to behave properly around women. This means that as rude/gross as some guys are, they'd likely be

@JerseyGrrrl: And the moms have babies fairly young too, from what I understand, thus contributing to the high mortality rate. Sorry, but just because a 13 year old can make a baby doesn't mean she's ready to have it. #reproductivejustice
