The process I use is what I call "luminosity transit". I determine what colors of the cube to use based of the original image's luminosity (think black and white). Because the red and green on the cube have very similar luminosity values I had to drop one so that the eye can interpret the image without confusion.

Thanks for posting this Robert. I taught myself to solve the cube in 2008. The idea to use them as an artistic media came later, probably after seeing Invadr's work with them. I wanted to use them a bit differently using some color theory I learned in art school. My dyslexia has been an advantage.

I've solved the 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, 5x5, and 7x7 but I'm not a "speed cuber".

I'm the dude who built the mosaic mentioned in this post.

Robert, it took about 5 hours to assemble the mosaic. It took me 40+- hours to configure the cubes and arrange them for the final installation. I averaged 15 seconds per cube.
