I completely understand and agree with having the ability to care for those close to you - I’ve done it as well. You just couldn’t pay me enough to be a nurse. I have a good friend who is a nurse at LA County which provides services to the indigent. It’s emotionally and physically grueling. She’s a saint in my eyes.

I agree, wholeheartedly. And each person feels a different kind of connection with others, and might only be able to offer different kinds of support. In my opinion, nurses are heroes for the work they do in caring for others who can’t care for themselves. You couldn’t pay me enough.

Seriously, thanks for the education. I do volunteer weekly with kids in foster care in Compton and, as a result, am very well educated about institutionalized racism and its effects on POC but I have neglected to educate myself enough about our Native Americans. Shame on me!
