Do people not realize that it is a reference to a French cut? There are french cut green beans, too. The long, thin, angled-ended potato sticks are French cut fried potatoes...or French fries. Anything else is not a French fry.

Why would you bake with cold butter? Almost everything I’ve ever baked, or have ever seen baked has first warmed the butter, both melted or just warmed by the oven before being used.

I agree that a covered, angled pathway is cheaper and more efficient. The only potential argument I could see is if people didn’t want their walkways covered. For many people, walking outside means not walking under a roof. So, if the options are, inefficient solar walkway or no solar panels at all, the walkway is

Could be. You’re technically in violation at 1 over, so they have every right to pull you over and ticket you, but in most cases, it’s more trouble than its worth because the consequences aren’t great, and while the cop is dealing with you, there may be someone going 12 over that would be more worth their time.

I’ve heard, though have never been brave enough to try it, that if you get pulled over as part of a team operation, where one cop sits on a bridge and radars the cars driving under and radios to their partner on the on-ramp when they find a violator, that you can argue the ticketing officer didn’t actually observe

I’m in WI, too, and I’ve never gotten a ticket for doing anything under 10 over. I tend to sit right at 5 over, because there is a pretty significant jump in consequences at 11 mph over.

5 days a week, though? That kind of pressure can get to you.

The Pope isn’t a person? You might want to ask him about that.

Someone also needs to learn that aspirations and vows are all nice and good, but people are fallible and will fall short of them, even the Pope. And he’d be the first to agree.

I’m a huge Packers fan, and the rivalry with the Bears is more like two neighbors who tease each other at the fenceline. The Vikings rivalry, however, is a loathing, hate-filled one. Of the three NFL teams I actively dislike (hate maybe a strong word, but I’ve used it before), the Vikings are one of them.

You sound like a lot of fun.

Don’t believe anything Manuel tells you, he’s a lying SOB. He once tried to get me to give him some money for his sick friend. Later that day, he was spending that money on booze and scratch-off lottery tickets. When I confronted him, he tried to lie, then ended up giving me one of his lottery tickets. It was a

I never said they were synonymous, I simply said the end result is the same, though GMO is safer. The process is different, but the goal is similar.

You’re perfectly within your right to not want to eat something, but the fact that you don’t want to eat something does not mean you have the right to require it to be labeled. If everyone were to make their preferential choices labeled, we’d have books attached to each product rather than a label. Your bodily

The difference is that GMO is safer, because they know the gene(s) being inserted, instead of hoping that nothing bad comes along for the ride. Other than that, it’s still foreign genes being added to the plant’s genome.

Can we please stop conflating traditional selective breeding with direct genetic modification. I get that it is great PR for GMOs as it makes them seem more homely and less scary, but people do know there is a difference.

Could be. I mean, I did get the reference, it just didn’t jump out at me and scream “Boo!”

Well, it took me a second to realize she was probably talking about cheesecake factory, so I can certainly see that someone would miss it. There isn’t a cheesecake factory near me for hundreds of miles, so it’s not like it would jump immediately to mind.

This just seems backward. Possibly because I’ve been used to the plates following the person, not the car, but I can see how this type of issue would crop up a lot. If the plates follow the car, and there is a warrant out on the plates, it will follow all subsequent owners (as in this case) and would seem to be an

Why didn’t she get new plates? In Wisconsin, it’s not even legal for someone to transfer plates to anyone who isn’t a direct family member.
