I honestly would be very surprised if people like your mom (and mine) didn’t side with Trump. Fox News’ bread and butter has always been crusading against the ‘liberal media bias.’ Their viewers were indoctrinated to have a very healthy distrust of all media, except of Fox (ensuring viewer loyalty, and allowing them

One of my biggest accomplishments in life is (mostly) swaying my mom away from FOX news and getting her to watch Rachel Maddow.

Paraphrasing a comment from another poster:

What about Vic Morrow and the two kids dying in a helicopter crash during shooting of The Twilight Zone movie? This isn’t exactly a frequent occurrence, but it sure does happen.

It’s so awful that the onus is on the crew to say “no, that is not safe”. My friends all have had stories of being told to do something dangerous that could have resulted in serious injury. Some felt comfortable enough to say “go talk to hall if you have a problem” but most just did it. It’s awful.

Everyone in the industry (below the line, anyway) is still furious about what happened to Sarah Jones. And the continuing attempts to shift blame away from careless and greedy producers who just wanted to “get the shot.”

Filming stunts is incredibly dangerous, even in the best of circumstances. There are safety meetings, rules set up, areas cordoned off and still, accidents happen. It’s one of the reasons crew members have been pushing so hard to have stunt people recognized with an Oscar.

Before now, I never really recognized the very present danger of action movie shoots.

Iwas a little surprised to learn in college that the posters from WWII encouraging women to work were only marketed towards middle class women. Poor women were already working and were glad to move in to higher-paying war work jobs (my grandmother among them, she held several different factory and service jobs before

In addition to that, there was some exclusion of women who were already working from the “women to work” movement. My mom’s from and still lives in Indiana. Her mom married a deadbeat and worked pretty much her entire life to support the kids and send them to Catholic schools. I think my mom was pretty pissed at the

I do believe that fourth-wave feminists (which I count myself among) are much, much more inclusive - sex positive (while acknowledging asexuality as a legitimate orientation), gender inclusive, trans inclusive, and intersectional about race, disability, class, religion, and so on.

The feminist movement is pretty badly fractured like that. Sex-positive, sex-negative, gender-inclusive, gender-exclusive, orientation-inclusive, orientation-exclusive, and so on. Hate to say it, but this has played a broad role in damaging the ability of the movement to be seen as unified force for good, along with

the question of “whether feminism can include married women” enrages me. I know there are some people, young and old, who still think it can’t.

And I don’t accept that feminism was a direct cause of Playboy ceasing to feature nudes. I think the decision had a lot more to do with the changes brought by the internet in the form of free porn, customizable to just about any taste and kink. How could Playboy compete with that?

Why did you un-grey this????

For a while he seemed to only play dead people. Interesting type casting.

Isaiah wasn’t immediately canned and in fact, he returned to the show for a guest appearance later. And the homophobia was against someone on set, you know. So I would say it was just as unprofessional.

I mean, listen, I love Shonda and I love Scandal and Olivia Pope with all my heart, but they made Katherine Heigl give CPR to a deer and then make out with a ghost. That season was so truly awful. And I don’t understand why she didn’t give Isaiah Washington the same shit she gave to Heigl.

whats even sadder is that isaiah washington got a steady job first
