These companies have put a lot of work and marketing into creating the idea that payday loans aren’t as bad as, say, selling your stuff to a pawn shop. I was mixed on “do anything else” but I thought it was undermining the shiny image put out, one pawn shops (to continue the example) don’t have.

Interesting, so UK unis don’t have a system for giving additional chances to alumni and “legacies”?

when he explains how low the odds of winning the lottery are (everyone knows, John!)

I think I hate the baggage that comes with “Imagine” some songs just become iconic to the point that we lose track of the meaning of the song amid the ubiquity and the people who love it. One of the moments I love about Glee is the sign language performance of “Imagine” because that was one that got me to reflect on

Didn’t another company have the rights to make a Fallout MMO? Maybe it’s reverted since then and Bethesda can pick it up.

Wasn’t Fallout 3 a Mature game where sex was implied when you see someone waking up in bed next to you?

I’ve heard sharper-eyed viewers say they saw Brienne and Pod riding away afterward (in a very wide-angled shot).

I was never a big Jon Snow fan but last night’s episode did put me on Team White Walkers... at least short term. Kinda like how I’m only on Team Stony-Faced Nun while she’s being terrible to Cersei.

Eh, it’s Page Six. I haven’t read a Page Six item where I couldn’t see some publicists’ greasy fingerprints. Especially when the fingerprints come from inside the building.

IDK, she strikes me as batshit insane but poised enough to keep it together for an hour or so... and nowadys that’s the moderate GOP.

Four years ago, Susana Martinez was frequently mentioned as VP material. Romney’s campaign probably checked her out. She’s awful and she’d be depending on the national media being as poorly funded as the New Mexico media (which has money for graphics, covering traffic and weather, a guy who looks like he’s wearing

Yeah, in New Mexico a lot of people who, if they paid better attention, would disagree with her on the issues voted for Susana Martinez because of her race. That’s not all Latino voters but enough (when combined by a terrible campaign by the Democratic candidate) to give Martinez the win. It doesn’t help that we have

The women who don’t get Goodfellas probably spit on their own floor.

That said, I can’t be alone for wanting to see blond Gillian Anderson to share the screen with Evelyne Brochu.

When I watched the trailer and it got to the “one of them is a traitor” part, my husband joked “Eh, they’ll probably just find a brown person to blame” not knowing Chopra is the series’ star. A few seconds later, the trailer gets to the part where Chopra’s character is accused of being the traitor.

Ugh. I’m just generally tired of the “but he’s a genius at his job so he gets to be an asshole!” genre.

I used to have mixed feelings about Schumer comedy because of the racism but those moments that make me uncomfortable have become less frequent. I’d like to think that means she’s learning but then I think she did a variant on her “I prefer consenual” joke recently.

Not on broadcast TV. Comedy is in a state of crisis on broadcast TV but the two shows that have been hits recently were black-ish and Fresh Off the Boat.

While I don’t know about calling Louis CK politically correct, he makes jokes about contemporary social issues that is very entertaining to that “politically correct” crowd, like his joke about how dating for women must be like zebras having to hang around lions to mate.

Thanks for pointing that out. I was wondering if the image used was actually representative of the store (and, more importantly, representative of the students’ experience) or just some image an editor thought would go funny with the story.
