Also, if you understood how racism worked you would understand that there is no logical fallacy. You're white. You're privileged. You have the power in society and are part of the oppressing group. As a white person you don't get to tell those who you are complicit in oppressing how we should react to the oppression

So you're saying that white people are superior?

It seems obvious to me, being of South Asian origin myself, but it's problematic because it's a gross generalization by a privileged white lady belonging to a country that brutally colonized Arab nations. It's a racist, colonial mentality that was and is used to justify invasions and occupations to this day.

Look...if you're white then know your place and stop telling People of Colour what is and isn't racist. You don't know what racism feels like (and don't bring any reverse racism bullshit). If you're not white, stop telling other People of Colour what is and isn't racist. Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it's

OMG!! Are you a troll?? Or do you SERIOUSLY not see how horrendous your comments are? You seriously have no clue AT ALL what racism is so please, please, shut up about it!

Me too!!! I don't even know what to say to her but I had to express my anger. Solidarity in that rage stroke!

Right? A little Black boy carrying a gun was somehow appropriate for them to have the kids enact out. But again, it's an ugly mirror of Hollywood itself.

I was thinking the same thing! The kids are completely adorable and sweet, but the lack of racial diversity and almost no girls really made the point about Hollywood's racism and sexism apparent. The Captain Phillips one was the most obvious - bad black kid against good white kid.

You're totally right. I stand corrected. This has been going on for centuries. It is part of the identity of the United States of America*, a country whose foundation is genocide.*

*I know the US is not the only one.

I think chocolotto was referring specifically to what we see depicted in the media, not what is the reality. It's true that you rarely see interracial couples in the media in which one half is not white. But in reality, as you said, it is quite common for interracial relationships to not include a white person.

*Sigh*

I don't know *that* much about Judaism, unfortunately, but I do know enough to know that Judaism and Islam are actually way more similar to each other than either religion is to Christianity. Being Muslim, my experience with Christians has been the opposite. They think we're so different and alien that when they

I know! I love how people who have no clue about Judaism or Islam (or the lived realities of Jewish and Muslim peoples - i.e., oppressions) all of a sudden think they're experts on us!

Oh that is bullshit and you know it. If they were trying to keep things secular in Quebec then why are they keeping the big cross in the Quebec legislature and that big cross on the Mont Royal? If they wanted to be secular then why do they allow Christmas break or Easter break? All government offices should be open

"They've just had longer to forget about it."

I think people have completely missed the point of your post. There definitely is a racist hierarchy within the food industry. When people think of refined, high end food they think French or Italian. When they think gourmet, they think European. When they think "ethnic food" they think exotic or cheap.

Completely unrelated, but I totally need to start using more Bollywood gifs!

I'll admit that I've always been uncomfortable with the survivor/victim debate. I don't think either should be forced on anyone. Some individuals prefer the term 'survivor' while others prefer the term 'victim.' I think it should be up to each individual to decide.

Also, I don't know where this idea came from that

I was thinking the same thing! That's a common Arabic name. Go to any Muslim majority country and you'll find a million and one Khalils. I mean...I thought this was common knowledge!
