Today's crash and the video are unrelated, except for it being the same Veyron.

Today's crash and the video are totally unrelated, except that the car is the same.

Yeah - the lack of an honorable mention for pelicans everywhere was the one thing I found missing from this article.

No.

There won't even be Softs - they are bringing the Medium and the Hard compounds to Bahrain.

It is a common misconception that you can't bring your FXX home and do whatever you want with it. Ferrari offered the option of storing the cars for their Corse Clienti customers and prepping and delivering it to various circuits around the world, but it was never mandatory that they keep the cars.

Articles do mention the Vitesse is limited to 233 mph with the top removed and 255 mph with it fitted. It is unclear if they have changed that for this limited run of Vitesse WRE's or if they've simply tweaked the ECU again for the test. The record was definitely set with the roof removed which is impressive because I

Regular Veyrons are limited to 231 mph without the top speed key. Then with the key they are capable of 253 mph, however if you use the brakes or turn the wheel beyond a certain point, then top speed mode will be deactivated.

The Super Sports also have a top speed key which probably limits them to the same 231 mph (I

They use the original Lotus VIN. They could never satisfy all the regulations required to sell them as new cars under their own supplied VINs. The car doesn't even have airbags.

To build a Venom you must first purchase a used Exige. Lotus is not selling them bare chassis as a starting platform like Tesla did with

Whoa there - too much logic. ;-)

Visit FerrariChat.com - you'll find several people still making the claim.

Not a production car. It is a modified Lotus and it retains the Lotus VIN after Hennessey is finished with it. Not at all worthy of the record books.

Contrary to what John Hennessey would like people to believe, the Venom GT is not a production car and never will be. They take a Lotus Elise or Exige chassis and modify that car to become a Venom GT. In the process they retain the Lotus VIN and the car does not have to pass any government tests in the process. Not

...but 8-10 mph in the trap speed is pretty huge. Remember, there are people out there who like to claim the 458 is faster. This real world stuff that drag times has been doing lately solidly proves that is not the case at all - especially now that they have put them head to head.

If you read the DragTimes article linked from the video it says both cars were using launch control. Reaction time is not a factor here though. The McLaren was running consistent 10.5s - 10.6s times @ 133 -134 mph. The Ferrari's times were 11.1s - 11.3s @ 124 - 126 mph. That's a big difference in very similarly priced

It doesn't matter - reaction time is not a factor in elapsed time in drag racing. If you read the DragTimes article the McLaren was running consistent 10.5s - 10.6s times @ 133 -134 mph. The Ferrari's times were 11.1s - 11.3s @ 124 - 126 mph. That's a big difference in very similarly priced performance cars.
