As a New Dad (TM) I have to spend my free time carefully and unfortunately 2016 has offered few exciting single player experiences so far, though I just finished Uncharted 4 this morning and that was a hell of a good ride.

The frog guy... I want to play the game that contains that frog guy...
It’s a good thing we’re talking about videogames, you know... things people do for fun to escape from real life, or you know... you’d seem like a pretentious jerk...
I disagree as while I love Turn Based I am not a fan of permadeath or masochistic difficulty. I also prefer games with strong narrative and characters... where are the games for people like me?
I don’t like the comical guns the storm troopers have in the 3rd Picture, Ghibli never shied away from real looking weapons and real danger, one of the reasons their films feel very genuine.
I’ve done a few but this is the only Failstarter I’ve had so far, I’d consider that not too bad.
Now if only they had some female characters... oh wait... too late for that apparently, just a fan service mechanic and a waifish bystander love interest. It’s great to see the series that introduced me to great heroines forgetting it ever did that.
Looks like Kowamori is drawing on some of his original ideas for Escaflowne with the whole “Knights of the Sky” thing, also it looks like we might be getting some Valkyrie on Valkyrie Action, something I always wanted more of in Macross.
I don’t think that’s Loki... Dormammu maybe? But then again... who else but the god of Mischief would steal Dr. Strange’s pants...
and I’ve played the Shadow of Mordors, the MGSV’s, the Far Cry’s and I’m really starting to get tired of all this focus on pure gameplay and no story, that’s why I got into games in the first place ya know... the MIX of narrative and play.
Great commentary on the problematic nature of both trying to oppose and defend the practices of groups with no organizational structure and a deliberate slant towards annonymity.
Other than the rabid and kinda off putting fandom I'm surprised you left Full Metal Alchemist off the list. I'd think the Euro-Fantasy Setting, Characters with Western Names and a multitude of other European rather than Asian influences would make it an easy gateway anime.
And yet Monster Hunter doesn’t have a story or characters... so while Xenosaga’s characters are a little shallow at least it has them.
Because anime is small potatoes in the West these days, it's just not worth the money.
Well fuck... now we'll NEVER actually get Macross over here... I'm glad for the Robotech fans but seriously... fuck you Harmony Gold... also it's Sony so it'll probably be shit.
Too much waifu material, not enough Riza Hawkeye, Olivia Armstrong or Izumi Curtis.
Seems like this is also pulling an FF13 i.e. taking too long to come out, everyone losing interest and then not many folks really liking it when it finally does come out.
Legend of Dragoon is a Sony Property and has nothing to do with Square... though why Sony hasn't done anything with LoD is beyond me...
A nice wide selection of influences.
Yeah, I've pretty much given up on Square for this kind of reason. They don't seem to WANT my money...
