yeah i dont see the big deal
counterpoint: no top-tier level driver got there by being a genuinely nice guy all the time.
Totally agree. I live in Brazil. Reading Orlove’s aticle pisses me off, as it is really easy to make such political statement out of the safety and comfort of your first world garden. Get down here. Come see how things are.
You would not know a faschist if Mussolini rose from his grave and bit you on the ass .
Raphael, I’ve lived in Brazil for 25 years and I would not call the new president a fascist. I think foreign journalists like yourself should be wary of throwing around words like that without any real knowledge of Brazilian politics or players. If I were in the US I would be a Democrat voter and I don’t think he is a…
I will disagree, he was on dry tires, nothing he could do really
Please stop. Enough politics on Jalopnik. I come here for car stuff. Who he supports on twitter contributes ZERO to this story.
Technically, his name means “Eagle Peninsula”, I don’t know if that makes it better or worse.
Are you serious? That wasn’t even one of the 10 different ways I counted! I have been saying “Theesin” in my head all this time.
Personally I find your name more difficult to say. Specifically your last name. Kotkaniemi leaves plenty of clues as to the proper pronunciation, but you could say “Theisen” about 10 different ways.

It’s a cultural preference that a large chunk of the clothing industry still follows.
Many have forgotten how important fractional units of measurement are. Metric doesn’t accommodate this very well. For example, tailoring is better served with yards/feet/inches because the body naturally proportions itself into thirds. Metric doesn’t divide into thirds very well.
That was not my point at all. In fact, I never expressed a preference for a particular base. Your argument was that Celsuis does not “jibe with the real world where the temperature range for life is only a part of that scale”
The fact is, 0 F and 100 F have no relevance to the real world, whether considering life or…
The counting stat he provided shows a difference of 40%, which is pretty significant, and completely contradicts his implied point.
We were over 40,000 last year though. Deaths have gone up significantly the past few years. Some of that is because miles driven plummeted with the recession and is on the rebound, though there are other factors as well. Obviously though, comparing via a rate stat would have been more useful.
