RIP Len Wein
RIP Len Wein
I don’t remember if we see it, or if Jaime makes reference to it, but at one point the Lannister forces were supposed to them in Casterly Rock (I know someone mentions burning the food stored there.)
It’s like the Al Franken line about when Bill O’Reilly sued him — Satire is protected under the first amendment, even if you don’t get the joke.
I mean, it’s almost like he waited to release a statement because he knew proof was going to come out.
I saw it on PFT and was expecting the worst, but full credit, the majority of posters seemed to sympathize with him, and the “pics or it didnt happen” crew was relatively minor.
I still need to see it :(
The best thing I can say about SPECTRE is that it’s an absolutely gorgeous movie, especially the open and all the parts in Italy, and not just because of Monica Belluci.
Agreed that they work best back-to-back. And Quantum, IIRC, also had some problems because of the writer’s strike? (Of course, it has some of the same problems with the same writers as the next two, so I’m not sure how far that goes.)
The leaked Sony emails about Spectre are really interesting — if anything, the studio’s notes were on point, IMO. They identified the serious 3rd-act problems, I just think they ran out of time/money to adequately fix them.
Sure — I’m just saying they have more in common with the Bourne movies than the previous Bond movies, and that Bourne doesn’t have much in common with the pre-Craig Bond movies.
They’ve been talking about spinoffs though. The comic book *Velvet* actually makes a really good case for a Moneypenny movie.
There’s *a lot* of Batman Begins/DKR in there too, from the back-to-basics/realistic approach to the intentionally captured monologuing evil mastermind.
No, it’s about ... um ... water rights in Bolivia??
Shit, good point.
The F&F 5-8 comparison isn’t particular to me. They’ve made it pretty clear that they switched from the racing format to the international intrigue/huge set pieces format.
I mean, the Craig movies a direct response to Bourne. They are much more Bourne-like than Bourne is Bond-like.
This ... sounds familiar.
One of the best parts of Spectre is Craig’s delivery of “I don’t have anything to teach you at all” as she breaks down the gun in front of him.
It’s been on Netflix and Hulu for a few weeks, and I’m assuming it’s on NBC On Demand.
There’s a lot to like in the Craig movies, but it’s kind of a shame that the Bondiest Bond movies in the last 10 years have been Kingsmen, F&F 5-8 (though they suffer from the ‘all about us’ thing too) and John Wick.
