I wonder if we saw the same trailers for Drive. I don't remember them being exclusively (or even mostly) about the cars. That's actually most of the reason I was so interested in seeing the movie, because it didn't look like just another brainless Fast/Furious retread.
Saying Drive is a "car movie" is like saying The Great Escape is a "motorcycle movie." Drive was always about the guy, not the cars.
