I sure loved it when Windows XP SP 2 made it so that the monitor didn’t work in anything but safemode until I deleted my firewall. Great shit. 

Especially when those updates only add ‘features’ that we in no way want or need.

I realized something the other day. I’ve had more downtime from failed forced Windows 10 updates than any malware I’ve ever encountered. For me, Microsoft is essentially a malware vendor.

I stupidly left a laptop downloading an update. By morning it had rebooted so many times the SSD was damaged and the drive was unrecoverable. Thanks Microsoft. The SSD was a couple of months old at the time, so it wasn’t an case of simple defect.

Note to Self : Turn off Microsoft’s built-in Firewall. Install a reputable 3rd party Firewall. Block all incoming and outgoing connections to Microsoft's update server up range.
