Correct answer is to get up and walk out on the spot. If they want your money, which they do, they’ll chase after you can drop it. Don’t give in to their tactics and make it worse for the next person. The only thing they’re required to charge is sales tax, everything else is negotiable.

If I had dollar for every time I’ve seen a shift knob just slapped on with zero fucks given and the shift pattern totally off center, then I would have an amount somewhere in the 3 digits at this point. I can’t take it. It drives me nuts!

I’ve actually had salespeople show me how I can shift into “two” or “three” or “low” for first so it’s totally a manual.

It has never been the starter in my experience, always the battery or a cable problem.
I’m not sure how much the authorities can do here anyway. They didn’t see the violations committed and wouldn’t be able to testify to who was driving the vehicle at the time. You could bring in witnesses, but then the other side would have their own witnesses, and are you going to really do all that for a traffic…
