Maybe it's not the Pokemon designs people hate these days. Maybe it's really the art style and we just didn't realize it. Looking at these, all of them are more interesting in the old style. Even both Mewtwos look great!

Which for me is the reason why I constantly laugh at the internet's desire for a 'Pokemon MMO' which really doesn't make any sense to me. The game is all about being a handheld title, where face to face interaction is the preferred method of trading/battling though online features are also there.
