Apple is rarely ahead of the curve. Only example I can think of is Thunderbolt.

foobar2000 FTW. Use the DarkOne skin. Pure epicness.
Custom gaming rigs aren't expensive if you build them yourself. At all. These companies essentially scam you of hundreds of dollars.
Eh, oh well. So be it. Objectivity it is.

Proud elitist PC gamer here. Not a hipster by any means. I see PC gaming for what it is, blatantly - better. Superior visuals, audio, engine capabilities (physics, game features, etc.), online gaming, and controls. Plus, many PC games have mod tools, which I care about deeply (I used to be heavy in the modding scene).
I'm sorry, but am I the only one who thinks Jesus's comments on this article are kind of...rude and disrespectful, not to mention assuming?
Oh geez, I'm sorry, but you REALLY don't know what you're talking about. Graphics technology, whether in a console, a PC, or a Mac, outdates every six months. You are not "cool" if you don't upgrade your Mac, graphics-wise. Actually, buying a Mac means you're already behind, graphics-wise (Apple is never on the…
NO! Video games are WAY too easy already. Console gamers and more casual gamers have already dumbed them down WAY too much. Freaking regenerating health and tactical nukes. CoD is most guilty of dumbing down - the series is such a joke.
Very poorly reported article. Very misleading. They used the word "isolated." Meaning SP-only games. HL2 wasn't SP only.
I wish this meant the end of consoles. Sadly it won't. PC gaming till death. Also, a Wii successor placing "near" Xbox 360 and PS3 performance (if it is targeting outside of the casual/non-gamer market this time) is embarrassing. Those other two consoles are WAY behind in tech, and any successor should be pushing the…
This is downright awful compared to PC graphics. And yes, at the time PC graphics were (very obviously) better too. Not to the extent as they are today, but there was a significant gap then, and there will always be one. Pair this with the 720p-or-lower resolution (720p is horrendously small to begin with),…
Umm, yes you will. Since the Xbox 360 and PS3 are PCs, there's no reason that performance with identical innards would matter.
I don't really understand this comment.
I'm sure that's true for the total of all computers. But not for gaming computers, on the basis of Steam statistics (sadly the best metric around). It doesn't take very much GPU horsepower to crush a PS3 or Xbox 360. Hell, even when they were released it didn't take an enthusiast GPU to outperform them.
I love DICE to death for being so truthful. Down with consoles!
Don't get me wrong, I respect developers intensely, especially those who are in it for making good games (DICE, Ironclad Games, etc.). I used to mod VERY extensively and worked with game developers to effectively use/fix mod tools, so I understand very much how the situation is.
Crytek certainly shafted PC gamers, and I point the blame at them, not EA.
Sins of a Solar Empire. Galactic Civilizations. I think you underestimate them.
Yes I am. Operating system can be had for very cheap if you look in the right place. I built an HTPC which trounces an Xbox 360 and a PS3 one year ago, for roughly $350. The case doesn't have to be anything special.
