I highly recommend this. I've been using Swiftkey for quite a while and after a few weeks of use the predictive feature gets to the point where it is extremely accurate even when my typing is not.

Have you tried Hibernate? I only shut down (or restart) my computers once a month or so. Other than that they're either in use or hibernated.

After watching the video I was hoping that in practice it would be much faster than that. I could have done 2 or 3 with the chin method in the time she did one. Today is laundry day so this is perfect timing to give it a try.

Why would it be a dick move to give a bad reference? If the person was a bad employee then it would be a dick move to not give a bad reference. If you lie by giving a good reference when it wasn't deserved, you're screwing over the new employer.

That is definitely not the norm. I've been doing the round egg thing for years (in multiple cities and multiple states) and have never been charged extra.
