I called AppleCare for support on a problem and in the course of the discussion the tech told me that Apple recommends everyone shut down their Macs every night. She said it was the best way to prevent and resolve any issues with the computer.

Fun story, thank you. But please leave “latinx” to the list of words that Latinos don’t want to hear and don’t use. See the Pew Poll from 2019 - 97% of us don’t want it. It’s silly, offensive and racist to force terminology on people who don’t want it. It’s a misguided attempt to impose a gobbledygook word that isn’t…
I’m sure you meant “nauseated,” not “nauseous.”
“Slower” is an adjective. You mean “more slowly.”
McSally just needs to be honest and admit that this is nothing but reelection porkbarrel pandering since the A-10 is based in her district. We don’t need the A-10 and if it weren’t in her district, she’d admit it. Truth is, we don’t need half the money wasted on the military budget. As Pres. Eisenhower said, every…
Sounds great, but what about the issue of data caps that are now spreading amongst all internet providers. Comcast just informed me that it is imposing data caps on my broadband internet. I was very upset. I checked with other providers (CenturyLink, Cox, etc.) and all of them have data caps. It's not even possible to…

To everyone thinking of using the home-office deduction, two things to keep in mind: (1) it is one of the top audit flags for the IRS and the IRS scrutinizes it very carefully for strict compliance; and (2) it reduces the tax basis of your home.
"'Mexica' is not a tribe," says Ray Ramirez of the Native American Rights Fund. Dead wrong. We grew up in AZ with friends who are Mexica Indians from the state of Guerrero in Mexico. They speak Nahuatl and that is what the call themselves. They are Indians. Ramirez is just wrong.
In American English setting, how do you get Siri to spell out the word "period," rather than insert the punctuation mark? I can't figure that out.
Why so heterosexist? Guys also love Charlie Day. I find him super hot and would love to make out with him!
What's the best (and safest) way to clean the baked on gunk on stove tops and burner covers? I want to clean it so it's shiny white and new looking again.
But isn't it true that iPhoto can only maintain its library on a drive that's HFS+ formatted? That's the main reason I keep using it. I'd love to hear what others know about this.
When will all writers remember that "quote" is a verb, not a noun. The word that should be used here is "quotations."
What's the brand, man?
I tried this moving my iTunes library to my QNAP NAS. Major fail. QNAP kept corrupting the music files and at least 50% of the time iTunes couldn't find and wouldn't play songs. Finally moved my library to my external Thunderbolt drive, where iTunes now happily finds and plays all my music with no problems.
Here's another gaffe that I found Guy committed in this article. Using "as ... as" in a negative comparison. (See second sentence under Passive Voice.) "As ... as" is only correct in positive comparisons. Here, the sentence should read: "New York publishers are being attacked by self-publishers" is not so powerful as…
I won't buy one book or see one movie from Meyer. She's a devout Mormon and 10% of all her proceeds goes to her hater religion to support intolerance, misogyny and prejudice. No putative entertainment value justifies to my mind helping them carry out their misguided mission in any way.
Preview works perfectly in OS X in connection with a scanner. It's free and it automatically creates searchable text PDF's. Oh, Preview, is there anything you can't do?
The only time this might be useful would be for Passover!
Why doesn't ML allow one to go back and forth in the Finder between parent and child folders by using a swip gesture on the trackpad? It would be so consistent with other uses elsewhere (e.g., Safari). I so dislike having to go click on the back/forward buttons.
