I am no long able to reply to a comment so I shall follow-up on my comment about Alton Brown here. I used this post about Alton Brown as a simple vehicle to show my displeasure about his hosting the program. Relax everyone and clam down*.

I am not looking down on anyone. My preferences and reasons for watching (or not watching) a particular program are just that. I have watched "TV-Based Cooking Shows" since the late 1950s (that's 56 years). Some were great and some were not so great. I watch them to learn something while maybe being entertained. But…

Fine. Have it your way. I'll assume you enjoy Real Housewives of X because it shows how they "meet the challenges" of their daily lives.

Thank you, and please don't equate (too closely) my disdain for Cutthroat Kitchen with any (actual) dislike for Chef Brown. I speak as I would to a friend that his association lowers my respect.

Not sarcastic at all. I watch "cooking show" TV broadcasting to learn something I can use in my daily cooking. This poor excuse for entertainment teaches only that I shouldn't bother watching it. I'm not alone either. Many others (including professional chefs) find it bothersome.

Don't get me started. The show makes fools out of aspiring chefs in front of a chef (judge) they respect. The show places artificial roadblocks that have no bearing on real life. The show uses money in its most base way and it stinks!

Alton Brown has forsaken us and is not longer a reliable source of information. His association with the poor excuse for television programming Cutthroat Kitchen has severely lowered his credibility. Until he distances himself from that drivel he is on the "Do Not Watch" list.
