They use pure nitrogen because it has a lower moisture content than basic air. Therefore it expands less per degree of temperature increase.
Even though it's an Audi commercial, I think this is a great synopsis of LeMans and what it takes to be a driver. Thanks Allan McNish.

I started eating WAY healthier. I had no idea how shitty my diet was. And now, when I indulge in the occasional shitty food, it's so much more enjoyable.
I dropped 60 lbs a couple years ago, got down to around 159. I'm not tall but even this weight is just too low and I've since gone back up to about 179. That said, my cardio is excellent and I lift weights so most of the 20 lbs is muscle and water—not fat. Why am I telling anyone this...because too many people get…
My favourite strip of all time from any comic ever is this one. Calvin is me in this. His reaction is my reaction. It is the perfect comic strip...
So you're one of those people who purposely makes their car difficult to see in the fog. Smart, very smart.
I don't know what you're talking about.
I'll tell you a story. I'm an advanced care paramedic. The call was for a 2-car MVA on a rural road.

Here's an idea: Provide your own service for yourself. Do your own cooking and fetch your own damn drinks. Don't expect someone else to do something for you just because you don't want to do it for yourself. And don't go to anyplace that provides you service, only patronize businesses that allow you to do all the…
You're just a nurse, all you do is take orders from doctors.
Years of working in restaurants put me in a place where I can eat pretty much anything cold.
I can't possibly be the only server who thinks putting "extra love," whatever the hell that may mean, in a person's omelet is unconscionable, no matter how much of a dickwalrus the person is? I mean, unless "extra love" means "too much black pepper" or something. In my more than 20 years of serving, no matter how…
I imagine that's tougher to do when it's a national chain restaurant. If it was a single place, with an owner-operator, probably would be more likely to happen.
Volvo's don't sell because they are premium vehicles and people who want them (me) can't afford them.
It is also worth noting that all Volvo's will run on regular fuel - 87 octane - without negative effects on the engine. So...the premium gas, while recommended, is not required.
I hate to break it to you bud, but outside of hybrids or purely electric vehicles, you'll be hard pressed to find ANY vehicles that provide a combined MPG of greater than 36. Link: http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/best-worst…
You sound like you drive like an asshat on public roads. Bravo. /s
