Why on earth is “Keep right except to pass” not on this list?

I drive 2-5mph under the speed limit, with my cruise control set, and am constantly utilizing all 3 lanes on the highway to move around slower moving vehicles who are either backing up traffic by driving in the far left passing lane, or driving in the middle

Double hi

Potentially worse, as it decreases the wages of everyone. Before long, the starting wage for a skilled trade is minimum wage, which is a huge burden on the rest of the tax payers as we’d start funding their welfare/medicaid/foodstamps, etc.

All that does is move from the company paying people a living wage, to the rest

I did the math a while ago on the Mercedes plant in Alabama, and found that it would take something like 40 years of production to bring back the lost tax revenues they got as an incentive to build there.

They don’t employ that many people, and the taxes those people pay typically aren’t that high. So they aren’t

That’s not an incentive. When people work for too long and expect more compensation, they can simply be replaced by new (young) workers who are willing to take less pay. And thus, you have a race to the bottom.

I think that faith and community is what got most of them through it. It’s kind of a common Jewish saying that “things could always be worse” and I think those alive in the camps subscribed to that mantra and believed in it more than anything.

For true believers, it could be very calming. that means you have the last moments of your life to pray and be close with god and your family (maybe).

Sure, death is terrifying, but religion makes it much less so if you can actually believe it.

It’s funny that you call your 14 gallon tank the tiny one. my 10 gallon tank is the tiny one, and the 14.5 gallon one is the biggun’.

Both push out close to 600 miles on a tank though.

And they’re gonna do it by charging Washingtonians - who are now mostly ex-portlanders who are moving to places they can actually afford - who cross their shitty bridges.

As a non-practicing but still Jewish at heart person, no. I’d feel much more comfortable telling a group of black strangers that I was a Jew than telling a random group of white people.

I actually had to have a talk with my wife about this - her just telling people that i’m Jewish for no reason. She never really

Or Portland. Both cities have quite possibly the dumbest road infrastructure i’ve ever come across. Metered on ramps, 2 separate on ramps that are each 2 lanes merging to one lane then merging into each other then merging onto a highway... On ramps and off ramps ever few feet.. Draw bridges..

Roads widening to 4 lanes

Y’all needed some traffic to the site huh?

Mission accomplished. Ad Revenue level up!

There’s plenty of 06+ Jetta TDI’s with DSG’s or 6sp for well under that price range.

And then the price of the 4motion passats of the same era are a quarter of that (2k-3k). Why spend 4k more for fewer spinny wheels?

That mini-van though... damn vw, bring that shit over here.

Mine was actually recent.

2011 Golf TDI, i’ve had this car since new, and understand its quirks. But this trip was a bit more than I bargained for. The wife and I were headed to the coast of Oregon from SW Washington. Not a terribly long drive, with plenty of reasonable fuel stops along the way. We left the house,

The night setting is still putting out a ton of light, it’s just darker light. I don’t wany any of that.

Yeah.. My 11 golf can only be dimmed, and even at full dim (which I tend to do for instrument lights anyways because they’re way the fuck too bright) it’s still absurdly bright for no fucking reason. Like, it’s the radio, I don’t need to see the same static screen for 5 hours while i’m driving. Let me set a

On the topic of touch screens everywhere, I really hate that you typically can’t turn the screens off while leaving the music/whatever on.

The last thing I want, is a bright ass screen making the entirety of my interior glow at midnight. I don’t want that bright light in my cabin, I should be able to turn that off

I don’t know, those mini-vans looks pretty slick. They’re almost work vans, and I bet they get better mileage than the currently available 7 seater work vans available from ford/dodge/nissan/mb/chevy

Yup. Plus your tires list twice as long now that you’re switching them for 6-8 months of the year.

And of course, now that you have traction for the conditions, you wont crumple your car into oncoming traffic in the snow.
