In all fairness, this car is touted in the article as being a race car. Clearly, it is a show car.

I don’t call my 01 Insight a space ship just because it looks like one.

I just looked up a Hyundai Sonata’s maintenance schedule, and wow. Not once in 150k miles of services does it call for replacing brake fluid, timing belts (but with chains now a days...), transmission fluid, fuel filters.

And Buick replaces the engine air filter every 45k? That’s lunacy. But they at least have a

Are they really though? Everything gets full synthetic these days, and how much you spend on your oil is really up to you. Filters are cheap too, especially on the VW’s since they just use a filter element inside of their own filter caps/covers.

a 2.0L gas modern VW shouldn’t cost any more than a 2.0L gas modern

He said “Unibody’s headed to the scrapper” - why scrap the body when the only offending part of the car is the motor?

higher than other gasser car repairs? What are you even talking about?

But it’s the exact same body as gas model cars... you’d just need to swap the fuel tank and driveline.

The seats are a direct bolt on to to mk5's, but the rear seats are different between the wagons/sedans/4drs/2drs. (I think it mostly has to do with seatbelts)

I’ve got a full set of GTI leathers from a mk5 gti that wrecked that I had in my 08 rabbit, and now in my mk6 TDI. Great seats, and i’ll keep em if I end up

The obvious answer here is get a golf/jetta sportwagen TDI. She can keep her snow tire/wheel set and swap them over, she gets the same comfort, refinement, mileage, etc. With a bigger package.

The only trouble will be finding one.

Extra true when you drive a pickup truck with nothing in the bed, and bald all season tires. #muhtruck

As someone who’s beat the hell out of his TDI for all 130k miles, you have nothing to worry about. My DSG shifts crisply just like it always has, and still does that little hesitation lurch thing around 1400rpm in low gears going a constant speed.

Always keep in mind, for the 10 people who have a problem and are vocal

I think that was his GTI that needed the work, which means it could be anywhere from new to 30 years old.

I paid 530ish for 4 snow tires mounted and balanced. From a VW dealer. That’s the only thing I could think to use the hush money from.

What mileage? I’m rounding the 130k mark in the next few months and am patiently waiting for the shit VW reliability issues. Have yet to experience any of them.

One that’s either poorly maintained or driven like a 16 year old on the shittiest roads possible.

11' TDI with 125k on the clock, my gas cap plastic strap that holds it onto the car broke. That’s the only problem i’ve had with the car this entire time, bought brand new 2 miles on the clock.

My guess is they bought a new car expecting to not have their TDI anymore, so they’re making 2 payments.

That’s stupid considering the hitch from EU is rated way higher than anything you can find in the US.

You can buy the westefalia hitch online. Although, if i’m not mistaken it requires you to cut into your bumper since it’s one of those wonky ball only things.

That being said, i’ve got a class 1 on my TDI and have hauled well over the limit and it did just fine. The cars have plenty of brakes so an additional ton being

They have an impressive range of colors available everywhere but the US. We are stuck with a few dark blues, red, white, grey/silver, and black. We occasionally get a brown or an orange, but that’s pretty much it.

SM Prepped Evo8 with gobs and gobs of pah.

I’d never driven one before, stock or modified, so I didn’t really know what to expect. My wife (gf at the time) rode with me. I didn’t dump the clutch to launch it, I just let it out slowly and then let it have it, and I immediately started crying and laughing. I couldn’t
