They should be yes. As far as sediment per cup goes, i've noticed no real difference between using a fine grind and using a medium coarse grind. Each has powdery bits, and the mesh screen on the press does a good job of keeping most of it out.

One thing that I think is a little misleading, is the amount of coffee per fluid unit.

True. One thing you could do is figure out if you have a specific container that can be used as a scoop, that will make the process quicker. If I was going to setup a dry mix, I would do it in individual packs for the required water/egg/milk/whatever. So if you need 1 cup of milk for Xgrams of dry, make individual containers for that.
