Right. Okay, I'm following. I'd need more details to figure out why it was shut down. It's quite possible, now that I think about it, that the reason might have more to do with what category he submitted his campaign under, as different categories DO have different sets of rules (or at least some of them do. …
Ohhhh, okay.
Yeah, how does this negatively impact Jamal Anderson? Someone was trying to use his name and company to scam people on Kickstarter without his permission or knowledge. If anything, the idea was nothing more than idle conversation he may have had with somebody sometime somewhere.
The OP?
Yes you are.
But does that still make it fair? Is it really fair for us to "Blame" 1 or 2 people when things go wrong, and then at the same time praise them for when things go well?
But is that really fair to developers that are chosen to be the "Face" of a company? Do we blame Reggie for bad Nintendo games? Or Satoru Iwata? Shigeru Miyamoto?
Unfortunately, many of the commentators here on Kotaku are more than happy to lash out at someone who is considered an "established" figure in the gaming industry.
I never said that what he was making a masterpiece. And I'm not saying those are the exact words Disney used. But you are over-simplifying the entire design process of how games are actually made, and using this vitriol as an excuse to vent frustration at someone who has had a far more successful life than you…
Oh really? And how would YOU know what was going on behind the scenes when Warren was working on Epic Mickey 2? Were you there when he was doing the design documents and meetings to discuss the direction of the game?
When it comes to smaller teams, it's possible to see one (or two) people as the lead creative directors of a game and how a game is "their baby". These are teams of about 25 people or less.
Thank you. :)
It is sad what happened, and I'm sure Warren's sad about it too. I'm also willing to bet that one reason he can't comment on it like I bet he'd like to is because of a Non-Disclosure Agreement. I mean we're talking being canned from Disney here. How could there NOT be an NDA floating around in the legal works?
ALL video game developers are over rated because everyone seems to want to put them on pedestals and praise them for this or that when in fact they are just regular people like everyone else.
Except he's being a dick and is also wrong about a few things.
Doesn't matter what game they're playing, whether it be an FPS or the latest dungeon crawler...
