I think both Kaep and Reid have made it clear that they can’t be bought. The league was not showing the anthem before the protest either. And players had already stopped protesting during the anthem by the end of the season for the most part. So the league didn’t do anything but make themselves look stupid.

In Cruz’s defense, it’s not like a penalty would stop a team from scoring on the Browns, so it’s kind of a moot point.

Weird how you never see John Smoltz and H. Jon Benjamin in the same room.

It’s fine to criticize Smoltz as a broadcaster, but you can’t hold him to the same standards as an actual journalist or beat writer. Smoltz is a guy who just drops in once a week to talk about a baseball game, it’s not as if he’s a member of the permanent press. 

He didn’t explain it because the argument that “a national trade embargo with Cuba didnt work, therefore we should promote and wrestle in a country with a terrible human rights record that just murdered a journalist” is so self-evidently fucking stupid, that anybody who isnt a complete and utter dipshit should…
