The Dominion War wasn’t half as good as Best of Both Worlds. It was drawn out and as a result veered towards the ridiculous about halfway through. Season 4 and 5 of TNG was better than the third. Maybe that was the ultimate climax but the best of the show was yet to come.

I didn’t know ST fans at the time felt unsure about the show at first. Don’t blame them. It’s amazing it didn’t get canceled. Is there something that can be pointed to on what caused the show to improve so dramatically after season 2?
