Get a used Honda Fit. Honda reliability. Small footprint for easy parking in NYC. Genuinely fun chassis, and TONS of cargo room with the rear seats laid down.

The automatic leaves a lot to be desired from an enthusiast standpoint, but for a city car it’s just fine.

With the front wheel off I can fit my 60cm road bike

Lay off the bathsalts Justin.

The one my dad had as a test mule averaged 6mpg. They never towed with it.

I learned to parallel park in a 2001 E-150.  Between that and my stint as a mail carrier parallel parking LLVs and FFVs I can park just about anywhere.

We had one every year from 1992 to 2001 when my dad stopped getting company leases (Ford employee). Averaged 18-ish MPG, which for a massive van with a V6 was OK. He bought the last one we leased and it died of rust at just under 300k miles. Original engine, trans, and rear end. No cooling system work. Changed the

Fun story:

My dad was an engineer at a Ford subsidiary back then. Strangely enough, Chrysler contracted his group to design the power steering for the upcoming refresh of the Ram trucks, and they needed a test mule for prototype parts.

His company’s purchasing department was dragging their feet approving the test mule

I kept meticulous notes on my 2001 BMW 525iT. 3 years, 7 months. Didn’t include insurance, registration ($200/year), smog ($70/year) and it cost me $27,081.

Fuel: 9377.24
Oil Changes: $653.64

Technically PM and NOx emissions are directly related to fuel economy.

If you run a truck leaner (double the MPG claim requires this), you increase EGTs, which leads to higher NOx emissions.

To increase particulates, you run rich for an incomplete burn, murdering your fuel economy.

So while you cannot accomplish both

I will forever be bitter towards those who support the worst jingle in the history of jingles.

No limit on HP....isn’t the engine an open deck design?  That’ll put a damper on your fun.

Used Focus RS.

Is this @katredner that was in one of Cleetus McFarland’s Jet Car videos?  Or did they have two drivers that went by Kat?

They changed the title from “Malibu’s Camp Fire is now creeping right up to the highway” (as can be seen in the url), so my comment is no longer accurate.

Due south from Chico still puts the Camp Fire 8 hours by car from Malibu. While the probability is not zero that the camp fire will burn that far (nothing truly has

Wow.  Good job hack.  Camp fire is encroaching on Chico.

What a terrible fad.

I put ~$3300 into my E39 in the first 6 months of the year (2 window regulators, full suspension arm replacement/all ball joints, tires, pads) and it subsequently lost all compression on Cylinder One.

Dead.

No to the M4, unless you hate your eardrums (with 2 kids in car seats, this is plausible)

OR you could get a slightly used E63 wagon AND a nice International Scout for 80k.

“Sitting is killing you”

I’m only 2" shorter and have a long torso and the only car I have had this issue in was the NC/ND Miata.

I used to DD a FB RX-7 comfortably, so anything is possible depending on your dimensions.
