My Canadian nickle: I commuted 13 miles each way for 6 weeks last summer in Los Angeles. My route took me from West LA to Burbank through the Cahuenga Pass, and I would walk out the door of my apartment building at 5am. 13 miles and it took me about 50 minutes each way.

Coming from a cyclist: Your meme does hold a lot of truth. I refuse to ride in group rides because they end up with pack mentality of "oh, I don't have to follow the rules of the road". Cyclists have a complex that drives me crazy. You are on the road, and you must follow the rules. Cops do enforce the laws with

FB RX-7. I'm 6'4, 210 pounds and have a super long torso, and so long as it's a non-sunroof model (I owned a base 'S' built the same month I was born: 6/1985) it was supremely comfortable. Tons of leg room and adequate headroom. That, and it was a great car to drive.

I cycle in Malibu Canyon. Fuck me.

We were leaving a concert at the Pontiac Silverdome back in 2003. There were four of us, all between 170 and 230 in a ~1990 Mercury Tracer. 1.9l of fury and an automagic. We were pulled over because the cop thought we were drunk because of the constant changing of speeds. He laughed at us when we said that the

Bonerrific.

The grainy photo makes it hard to tell, but it looks like it's lacking a sunroof and rear badging on the drivers side, which indicates that it's a 12a with rear drums and an open diff (I had the exact same color and model before moving to LA).

I was a Dog frequenter just after I turned 21, however I ended up at the DT more often than not for the deck (when it wasn't snowing).

Great to see another MTU Alumn hanging out on Gizmodo. DT or Dog?

I went to school at Michigan Technological University, ranked recently by accuweather.com as the snowiest college in the country (http://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-new…). They closed the night that the Edmund Fitzgerald went down in the 1970's (my dad was there). The next time they closed was when I was going

8 speed is a reality. One of the kids I went to high school with told me about 4 years ago that he was on the design team for a 'Vette 8-speed torque-converter auto.

I went to college at Michigan Technological University, consistently voted one of the top 5 snowiest places in the country. The kid that lived next to me in the dorms daily drove a NA Miata year round. We averaged 240 inches per year. A set of blizzaks and two 60-pound bags of sand and he almost never girls stuck.

Phil Sohn's 20b FD:

The 300sl Gullwing's steering wheel rotates out of the way so the driver can get their legs in.

Lifted and CVT? Fuck that. Give me stock ride height and a manual.

Is it just me, or does it sound like the car is experiencing ignition breakup throughout the run?

Do you have any suggestions for those who want to learn how to start shaping metal? Must-have tools? Best material/gauge to start with?

What would it take to hang out with you guys? My gf's parents live in Van Nuys and i work in Burbank.

I had the privilege of sitting in a F40 during the 2004 US GP weekend in Indianapolis. It was astonishing. The only unfortunate part: I could only get one of my two feet on the pedals at any one time. Driving shoes or toe shoes are a must for driving a F40 (unless you have wee feets).
