There appears to be a clear division between liking pre-Xindi and post-Xindi. I have the intuition that those that like the former prefer Voyager, and those for the latter, DS9. Correct?
That's a shame! io9 is the ideal medium for such a discussion. I'm interested in what you have to say now!
Agreed! The first season was entertaining (besides being slightly cheesy).
There is the universe, and then there is our Mathematics—either coincidentally, or, as suggested by a famous paper [http://goo.gl/QCTDy], intrinsically—that describes it. All the interpretations are what we believe the equations to mean. Yes, there is the observer problem with the copenhagen interpretation as…
Perhaps what is more embarrassing is having the expectation that the intricacies in the laws of Nature—in this case describing the tiny, subatomic world—has to be fit with our naive intuitions about what these laws ought to be like. Time and time again, such intuitions have been proven wrong. On the matter of quantum…
You should give it a shot! I like your ideas and you seem to display a breath of knowledge in science. I would too but I'm not gifted at writing and I'm just starting a new post-doc.
Apart from blushing, what else does increased oxygen levels near the skin signal?
I've been experimenting with merino wool socks, due to their amazing wicking properties. From what I understand, (most) blisters occur when your feet get moist from sweating. The skin then becomes soft and so friction will damage it. The panty hose idea is to have a spacious layer between your feet and socks so that…
The other solution wasn't stated! The problem was identified as: "once alcohol is eliminated from the body...these adjustments result in sleep disruption". Therefore, clearly, there are two solutions: to ensure alcohol is eliminated before going to bed, as the author suggests, OR to consume so much alcohol that you're…
Everything gets loose over time....
Don't have pockets when you're trying to shoot that penis pic with your SLR...
:D~~
I'm not in the US. Private message me your username and password and I will update your status for you!
Screw her!
Belated, but thanks! I'm glad you get it. It doesn't work too well on dating sites... :P
Thanks! I find 2 mins of brushing to be too short. I don't see how my teeth can be clean with 4-5 secs on each tooth—even with an electric toothbrush. I normally do 4 mins and try to get the bristles in between the teeth. Can mouthwash, since it has anti-bacterial agents, mess with one's natural flora? If I rinse my…
Where did you read about encryption being a problem with SSDs? Could you not just encrypt a folder on the SSD for storage? I'm pretty interested since I just got one and am about to install my OS on it.
I'd say I spend easily $3k per year on skiing. So I think $600 for a lens adapter that increases the performance (in terms of light collection) by a factor of 2 is not that much. But drinking though. Shit... maybe around $150 a week (not including eating out) so easily $7.5k a year... but it's so much fun. :D
Did this one with a couple of friends on a water slide. One ended up with a burst spleen. It sure was fun when it's not you! :D
