XKCD is absolutely brilliant! The OP probably took up to freshmen/sophomore physics, where, as mentioned in the comic, professors/teachers throw around the word "fictitious" too easily. It has a very specific meaning in newtonian mechanics, and it is does not mean the force is made-up or imagined.
