Great! Cellphone out of battery, all electronics power down. Bluetooth bad connectivity, all electronics power down. It would need a timer with an alarm (with the option to manually overwrite the shut down) to only power down after 5 mins or so.

Fatty.
We should not cheer just because it didn't work for them. They have figured out one way which doesn't work and can now improve on their design. This is the nature of research. They still need to be severely punished for this.
First, the linking of Gawker/Gizmodo accounts to Facebook; next, asking us to send in high-res pics of our buds and bush... IT'S A TRAP!
I'm sure this could have been done in five minutes for pretty much any town in the US.
Good idea. Just don't wear these while driving, crossing the road, trying to concentrate on work or maintain focus on ANYTHING. In fact, maybe the best place for it on the subway when there's nothing to look at; but then why not just pull out your phone instead (oh and there's no 3G on the trains of NYC). Otherwise it…
It depends what the camera is doing in video mode. 1080p is 2megapixels, and if the camera is say 10MP, then is it reading only one in every 5 pixel of the CCD chip, or is it reading all 10MP and then compressing down to 2MP on-the-fly.
Thanks. Also @qiuness. I guess for an accurate comparison they should have scaled down the still image to 1080p AND compressed it to a JPG matching the same size as the frame in the video.
What's the reason behind why the resolution (and sharpness) of the the still shots scaled down to 1080p are much better than the 1080p video? Is 1080p video just shot at a low res. and then digitally enlarged?
I wonder if it is named after Ernest Shackleton ([en.wikipedia.org]). It would be appropriate given he was a explorer of the earth's south pole. The poor guy got G-owned by Amundsen.
Yea, spot on. The only places that I can think of that "Haven’t Seen Sunlight In Billions of Years" are the bottom of deep craters near the poles.
Sometimes I really can't STAND work either. Way too many puns can be used here. I particularly liked how he PUT IT IN THE OVEN.
Sorry to degrade the high standard of comments but.... I sure hope in the pic it's an energy bar in the runner's pocket....
On one finger? What is the exact definition of a full push-up, do you know? Is it defined by elbow angle, fraction of the vertical height that one must dip down, etc..?
Let me clarify. I think these 3D printers are great and will be a useful tool for, to quote the article, a "local student or amateur hackspace or makeshop". But the notion, as suggested on TED talks and articles all over the net, that every home will have one and its potentially massive impact on the economy and human…
Why would they offer free CAD drawings of their products so that you can print their parts at home? They would either prefer you to buy a new product entirely or they could have the 3D printer (or just extra parts on stock) and then sell you the replacement part. This is much more efficient for everybody (economy of…
I'm glad the article mentions at the end "find a local student or amateur hackspace or makeshop" because it really doesn't make sense to purchase a $5000 3D printer (and I don't see the price dropping below $1000 in the next 5-10years. Just look at the price of standard printers...) so you can make a replacement…
Hypnotism by text-chat? How interesting... Does it have to be an interactive communication medium? What if I'm just reading a fixed-text or watching a set youtube video. Hmmm... I still think the claims are dubious and I'm skeptical of the whole thing.
Can everyone be hypnotized? Or are some people more susceptible to it? Also does it have to be done in one's mother-tongue? Soooooo many questions.
Same with the iPhone (3GS) for me. I get a case with grippy rubber at the right places. It's also great for place it on moving tables (trains & boats) and of course dash board of a car.
