I had always wondered what the "I'm not racist BUT" of misogyny was going to look like.
It was a surprise to me because I hadn't really been following it too closely; I try to go into films as cold as possible - precisely because I really like having things like that as a surprise.
It's a tough call, because everyone I know who has seen it has a completely different opinion on it. But for six bucks I'd say it's worth a pop. It's definitely interesting, I'm still not sure if it's actually "good". It's weird. I feel weird about it. You should probably watch it.
Despite it's flaws, Place Beyond The Pines still gets points for me for the big twist in the middle. I had NO idea. It's rare to be that surprised by a movie these days.
