Fun detected -> Fun nerfed.
Fun detected -> Fun nerfed.
Of course, and it’s not complicated. Blizzard has a large financial stake in the Chinese market. A pro-Hong Kong position jeopardizes that stake.
Is Blizzard completely unaware of the Streisand Effect or something, or do they just enjoy digging their grave?
That sounds incredibly oversimplified and naive.
“I want to be clear: our relationships in China had no influence on our decision.We have these rules to keep the focus on the game and on the tournament to the benefit of a global audience, and that was the only consideration in the actions we took. If this had been the opposing viewpoint delivered in the same…
“The specific views expressed by blitzchung were NOT a factor in the decision we made,” wrote Brack. “I want to be clear: our relationships in China had no influence on our decision...”
So all that talk for the last few days about how Riot wasn’t asking people to not promote Hong Kong, and how Blizzard wasn’t trying to make it more difficult for people to delete their accounts - we find that, once again, that’s not the case.
Just wait for Blizzcon. That whole new world of theirs is going to be more Frozen than Arendelle.
If Twitch dosn’t ban him (and let’s be honest, they’re cowards and they wont) for hate speech, they will lose whatever tiny little shreds of credibility they have left.
Woman shows a hint of skin for half a second? “BANNED!”
Man incites violence toward anyone that is not a conservative white man? “Hum, what an…
The chat in that channel could possibly be the single most racist place on earth pretty soon.
This isn’t milking it, this is Journalism, I personally can’t wait for the shit show at Blizzcon and I hope Kotaku reports on it.
Like when they decided to go cheap rather than listen to past experience and expert advice, microtrench up the landscape in Louisville, then cut and run when it got too pricey?
The “local machine” isn’t the problem. You could be sitting on the most powerful machine in the world, and if your network infrastructure is crap it’ll still run streaming like crap.
Ultimately, everything is political. I forget who actually said it, but the aphorism that we do not have to take an interest in politics for politics to take an interest in us is absolutely true—and it’s of vital importance to the present situation.
More importantly, Acti-Blizz (and the NBA, and South Park) took a…
I spoke about the issue with Blizzard and it's banning of the player who supported Hong Kong that coupled with Hearthstone's "family friendly" art change the other month paints a pretty picture of a company ponying up to China. I'll admit after talking to her and her saying I should write to Blizzard and say I…
Lol
You know, it’s basically true that companies have to kiss China’s ass to do business there. But the reverse is also true; China has been mor open to allowing foreign things in. And there’s only so much they can ban before they’re back to everything in their country is made by them.
Well, Blizzard is for sure not taking live questions at BlizzCon. Which is sad because that’s a hallmark of Blizzard. I also think any of the Blizzard employees that signed up to be on the floor have to be sweating due to awkward questions.
Part of me wants to get a virtual blizzcon ticket because, provided blizzard keeps covering their ears and eyes like they have been about this, there’s gonna be so many deliciously awkward moments on stream. But then I'd be giving blizzard $50 and I'm sure a supercut of all the moments will circulate soon ever
This Blizzcon is definitely gonna be memorable! Eyes closed, head first, can't lose!
