Unless battery tech increases dramatically in the next decade, electric cars(as they are made today) are a stop-gap, not the future. Hydrogen fuel cell cars seem like the way forward, despite what Elon Musk has to say about them.

The double edge sword of open source is that any number of companies can (and do) compile their own versions with their own software, many of which contain what might be called spyware. And then as we see here, any carrier can go ahead and do the same on top of that.

Not specifically, but Motorola is owned by Lenovo, a very large Chinese corporation who recently got in trouble for installing invasive spyware on their business line of laptops. I wouldn’t put it past them.

Unless you are buying those un locked phones from Apple, there is still a good chance you have spyware installed. I don’t know about Samsung and LG, but the commodity android manufacturers all install pretty invasive spyware that you can neither see or control.
