That always kind of bothered me as well.
I think the further into the aughts we got, it was spelling the end of what MTV was more and more. Towards the end, TRL was literally the only musically associated program on the network and even then, they were only showing 45 second clips of videos.
I think there is 1 Britney video/song from that era that I can't stand and instinctively want to hurt myself whenever I hear/see it and that's Sometimes. The cheese. My gawd, the cheese. The Titanic dialogue from the Oops video doesn't even outdo that cheese.
In regards to Gaga, it makes me long for the days of The Fame/Fame Monster. Those were solid albums. Everything since has been booty butt cheeks. -_-
