Woooah, now there's a control setup. It reminds me of the later Megaman X games, though I never thought about mapping grabbing to the A button... That's going to up my game a lot! I still think it's a little ridiculous that Nintendo would use such an obtuse control setup for the default controller...

Is it just me or do the jump buttons feel weird to anyone else? I'm getting used to it but in what platformer are the jump buttons relegated to X and Y? I'm thinking of changing them, but surely there's a reason they're defaulted like that... Right?

Word. I think that Nintendo should start licensing out their properties to other companies to help with their development load. They've already started with Hyrule Warriors and, iirc, Smash Bros. is being made by Namco... Nintendo has the properties to spare and seeing that they seem to keep getting shirked by major

Do you have any quick thoughts on the Pro Controller? There's no midnight release or anything where I live so I'm just going to download it when it goes live that night and play for, I dunno, three, four days straight. But because of that, my friends and I aren't going to have the Gamecube adapter right away. I'm

I hate being "that guy", but I don't understand how a game can be sexist. Games don't have gender. The avatars and NPCs in play are just 3D models. How they look isn't an agenda, it's an art style. Sure, it's usually done for gratifying purposes, but I think of it more as pop cubism than some misogynistic agenda. Lara

Has anyone tried the pro controller? I like the independent jump button on the GameCube controller; At it's heart, Smash is a platformer and it's awkward using the up button(though maybe that's just me). I still own a bunch of GC controllers, but I really look forward to when Nintendo can get enough of their shit

There's definitely a point of diminishing returns. I think that game graphics will start to lean less on "realism" and instead on creative design. We're starting to see that in movies with things like The Box Trolls or The Book of the Dead. They're visually gorgeous and rely on heavy renders, but stylistically they

... point taken...

Yes. The history is that no one gives a fuck about soccer.

True, but typically you should spend your wedding money on something you both could use. I don't believe Infamous is multiplayer, but maybe the OP's husband is into Killer Instinct? I bought the Mario Kart 8 Wii U bundle with some of /our/ wedding money. We now swear at each other more than we used to....

Huh. I wonder if we're witnessing the start to the next generation of console wars: digital distribution. Video game companies, big and indie, bypass console manufacturers by concentrating on streaming or subscription services. It's going on in television right now with Netflix and Hulu(and now Yahoo, I guess?). I

Coins are super important when you've playing against advanced players. The speed increase between no coins and the full ten is pretty substantial, though the more remedial players can't stay on the course long enough to notice. Do you even Mario Kart, bro?

It /just/ hit me that Pokémon Amie is a play on words of the French phrase for "best friend".

I don't really play other games online so maybe my opinion is invalid but I don't mind it. There is totally enough time for trash talk in between races, and my friends are usually still cussing about the end of the previous race when the Mic cuts in. There's also bit of lag in the voice that might be distracting

Consoles are more like cats.

On the E3 Nintendo Direct the developers talked about integrating some of Zeldthe classic Zelda elements of the boss fights into this game. I haven't played much Dynasty Warriors(I played a demo for one on the PS2 but didn't think much of it) but I'm pretty excited for this game. The change in format means this game

I feel like you've trying to be negative about Nintendo's console gimmicks, but the games would be SO GOOD. Zelda, Star Fox, Metroid... Pikmin!!! I die.

They released New Super Luigi as a standalone budget game on retail; I imagine this is the same? Same for that Kirby game they showed.
