My goofy brother put one on (one of) his ‘98 Chevy Cavaliers. I was the unlucky schmuck that got roped into driving it to the next town over when he sold it. 30min drive and my right wrist was throbbing, to this day I don’t understand how he used it for his daily as long as he did.

I caught a glimpse of a Lamborghini Diablo way up in the middle of nowhere New Lisbon, WI (an area where some peoples’ daily drivers come from names like “Polaris” or “Kawasaki” and have handlebars & a mounted hunting rifle case).

My Old Man pulled this move way back when he raced his own scratchbuilt slot cars. He soldered up a “nerf bar” style front bumper for the chassis & everybody flipped. Nobody was interested in how cheated-up the rest of the car was.

If only there was some sort of simple device that could’ve been fitted to the Jeeps to indicate to anyone on the opposite side of the dune where they are...

That would be the idea, yes. :)

“If the women don’t find ya handsome...”

Couple of relics from the “Wedge Car” era of dirt late model racing...

Maybe it’s the dazzle paintjob but am I the only one that sees the front end & thinks of the car from the game DISTANCE?

Not sure if it qualifies as “weird”, but halfway through what’s gone down as “The Dumbest Idea I Ever Had” I got lost somewhere between Moline, IL and East Troy, WI.

OK then, full disclosure I haven’t actually seen the documentation myself, at least until someone elsewhere posted an excerpt after I made my original reply. I was just going off what David wrote in the article.

Right? That would’ve been one of the first things I’d pull off!

And to VW’s credit, they’re well within their legal right to do so. But before they do, on top of being bullshit, they should also consider that this whole Dieselgate episode has been a monumental public relations disaster & fucking around with the people they legally contracted themselves to help out over something

They didn’t say “operable as a road-going car”, they said “can be driven under its own 2.0- liter TDI engine power.”

If the documentation specifically states “can be driven under its own 2.0- liter TDI engine power” and nothing else, then honor the agreement. He may be exploiting the system, but if that’s the only definition they gave over what the car has to look like when it gets returned, then it’s clearly VW’s problem that they

I’ve also heard this referred to as a George Washington’s Hatchet.

As a CAD tech, can confirm: valve bodies give me nightmares.

Actually that particular truck is “Rampage”, the older brother of “Fedor” which is the truck BJ drove in Monster Energy’s RECOIL video series

Offroad night racing rules of thumb:
Rule #1: Always equip enough lights.
Rule #2: There is no such thing as “enough lights”.

You remember SAC more than the movie because you’ve been trying to repress the Major’s English dub voice acting in the movie O.o

Now playing

That’s his car from Stand Alone Complex, the one in this movie seems more based on the one he drove in the original anime film.
