I would think if you want to reformat you should be able to backup in TimeMachine. Then during the install open Disk Utility and format from there. But what do I know?

Exactly why you should just get a sport bike if you're going for speed. No sense in getting a stupid unreliable Harley and putting a nitrous kit on it. Just go get ya a stock R1 or a ZX10r.
