These people (of which I am one, having previously owned scores of manual trans cars) should really be shopping for an EV. NOTHING beats one pedal driving for traffic. Except maybe an EV with a solid adaptive cruise system.
for ease of access and also reducing tongue weight a bit I’m going forward with the rear hitch. Ordered this last night: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001GN6LE4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
My dad had a Plymouth van and Apache popup, great memories camping across the country in the 80s.
Sweet tow rig!! Looks like our kids are about the same age/size. My boy just got a 20" bike. Now working out how were going to bring 3 bikes along. Probably going to weld a 2" hitch tube under the popups rear bumper/frame. Should take ~75lbs off the tongue weight which will put it right where I want it at ~350lbs. …
for those with commutes over ~25miles, yeah you’ll have to burn a little dino juice but still millions of people drive less than that per day.
Not stupid. The average US commute length is ~30 miles, round trip.
most of the issues concern the REX unit. I’ve had exactly 0 issues with my 2018 BEV over 14k miles, and most on the FB i3 group report that even early BEVs maintain high battery capacity and not all that much that can go wrong. Outliers exist in all things of course...
“The i3 might eventually die, but it will still be sold leased for several years”
As a die hard minivan owner for many years, I now find myself wishing my town and country's towing capacity was at least 1000lbs more than its 3500 so I wasn't limited to a small popup camper. Many 2wd SUVs have 4500lb+.
hate to be a nit but you said this twice and it’s wrong: “very expensive carbon-fiber bodywork”
Cool. Yeah I have a 24A 240v clipper creek charger for the i3, could share with the Pac. My father has a loaded Pacifica (bought a reg version before i could talk him into a hybrid) so i do appreciate all the improvements over mine, even if I'm not in love with the new dash design. Thx for the info!
I’ve been looking at these to replace my 2012 Town and Country, and .join my leased i3 in the driveway. How many miles have you put on it? Any issues? How many real-world miles are you getting on the battery? Any complaints about the hybrid drivetrain? thanks! I’m in Houston so would also reap that $2500 rebate,…
curious what “Must have” options he wanted on the Pacifica?
decent photoshop
Thats pretty rad wood.
