Yeah it is certainly nice that you don't have to worry about them and they even help out sometimes. It does break the immersion a bit though when they say "stay quiet" and start running around loud as hell next to the clickers. Or when they straight up run in front of an enemy and the enemy doesn't notice them at all.…
Lol except the AI in Last of Us just runs around constantly. Half the time I hear them running I think it's a zombie coming up on me and freak out.
