Someone want to tell me why this wasn't an offensive foul?

he was in the restricted area, his feet weren't set, etc etc.
There are really three camps here. First are the people who say you should try to set your feet in front of the offensive player to try and draw a charge, though that rarely works on dunk attempts because the defender is often in the restricted area where charges are not called.
all hail blob city
He actually does a lot of regular podcasts with Posnanski (who is discussed in this piece). They are worth a listen and the two of them often lampoon logic like this.
don't be an asshole. the section is well cited. you can find many more similar links across the internet.
if you think frank thomas used steroids, you need to do your research about frank thomas:
he had a career on base percentage of .419. when he retired, the last player to retire with an OBP at least that high was Mickey goddamn Mantle.
Have you never stumbled before? Sometimes it takes a couple steps before you fall over. Vidal is a world-class midfielder, you really think he's just going to flub a shot that badly unless he's in the middle of falling? Not saying it's a penalty but he definitely got tripped up by illaramendi. and i say all this as a…
Let's keep in mind that this is assuming all the good teams in UEFA make it through. In 2010, if the favorites held, the US would've been drawn with England, Egypt, and Russia. That's way scarier than what we ended up drawing after Egypt and Russia got upset.
It's worth noting that they're both Terps. Still, I don't know why this makes Kurkjian squeal like a distressed pig.
Even removing the southern cities, there are soooo many other cities that would support a baseball team better than Florida: Portland, San Antonio, Indianapolis, Columbus...
If it's so easy to just steal a base even when the pitcher has the ball, why doesn't mike trout just take off for second whenever he feels like it? you're overestimating how much time it takes for a pitch to halt his wind up and deliver the ball to second, there's no way that takes more time than a pitcher completing…
you can do whatever you want so long as the pitcher hasn't stepped on the rubber. the reasoning for the balk is that if it wasn't a rule you would pretty much never see another stolen base ever again.
you're not wrong, but crap like this is the reason why it's the thick of the pennant race and no one seems to care (and i say this as a huge baseball fan).
Yeah, he does that sometimes.
Hey should just run in so they can mob him. by anti-climatically sliding in, he's bringing down the whole team's Morales.
Can someone please explain to me why the city needs MSG to move before it can build an expansion to penn station in the post office across the street, as it is planning?
i'm not opposed to that. Also, you're right that these posters framing it as a similar art to movie sword fights are not helping matters. Fencing is cool, but it's closer to tennis than choreographed movie sword fighting.
as a former high school fencer, I feel the need to stick up for my sport.
Yes, televised fencing is bad. However, in my mind, this is not due to the sport and more due to lousy TV coverage. The announcers act like everyone watching is a fencing expert, but if they "dumbed it down", I think spectators would find it…
