Durable ear padding: The few sets of Senns I have have stood up fine. Higher end Senns are rebuildable. Just google for replacement parts for the model you're interested in. Many Grados are rebuildable too, but I find them remarkably uncomfortable (natural / 'transparent' sound and good imaging, though).

I've worn Sennheiser 500 series phones for longer than that without discomfort. I wear eyeglasses if that matters. Major problem is forgetting they're on and getting up to go somewhere. Fortunately, there's a secondary jack in the phones themselves that pops loose if you try to walk off like that.
