I'd also add in there a natural inclination to not suck at taking photos. You can know all the hints, tips, tricks, secrets, and have the best camera bag, but if you don't know the basics or have the creativity to take a nice photo, all of your time and resources have been wasted.

Very nice photos! Great job getting close to the action on what seems like a pretty widely spaced track. Only criticism I'd have is with the watermark. It kills the photo for me.
